Noor Zehra

Noor Zehra has been one of the most gifted and eclectic practitioner of music for over four decades. Daughter of Raza Kazim, the founder of the Sanjan Nagar institute, she never confined herself to any boundaries and hence, continues to spend time since its inception by her father on furthering the development of the Sagar Veena.

Her formal training began during 1971, when she learnt from Rajeshwari Datta, head of the India Department at SOAS (School of Oriental and African Studies) in London England. Then, she went to Berkeley, California in U.S.A., and learnt at the Ali Akbar Khan College for music. Eventually arriving back to Pakistan, and further learning from Ustad Shareef Khan Poonchwala for a few years.

In her performance on Coke Studio, Season 9, Noor Zehra effortlessly strums the Sagar Veena, as a guest musician on an original track that has been written and composed by her sons, Ali Noor and Ali Hamza of Noori.
