      Masuma Anwar

Combining the rhythms and traditions of sufi-folk tunes with her deep and textured vocal tones, Masooma Anwar has been closely in contact with music since she was four years old. A doctor by profession, she maneuvered through books and started singing professionally in 2005 with her first performance of Khwaja Ghulam Fareed’s ‘Aa Mera Dhola’ at the MTV Awards. In addition to four solo albums, she has been nominated by MTV as the Best Breakthrough Artists (2006) and Best Female Artist (2006); leading to her debut in Bollywood with her original composition of ‘Lutna’ in Cocktail (2012).

Deriving her inspiration from Baray Ghulam Ali, Zahida Perveen, Jhummun Khan, and Reshma Ji – Masooma has performed for two consecutive years at the SAARC Conference in 2011/12. She has also earned the honor to be the youngest artist from Asia to perform for in venues across Europe on the invitation of the Culture Ministry of France in 2008. Masooma will flaunt her melodic and soulful vocals in her debut this year on Coke Studio, Season 9.
