جو ہوُں سُنانے چلا

Jo hoon sunane chala

Which I am going to tell you

سب نے بتایا راستہ دِکھایا

Sab ne bataya rasta dikhaya

Everyone showed me what the right path was

پِھر بھی اندھیرا رہا

Phir bhi andhera raha

But there was still darkness

جگ یہ کہتا رہا

Jag yeh kehta raha

The universe kept chanting

میرا جی نہ لگا میں اُٹھا چل دِیا

Mera ji na laga mein utha chaldiya

My heart wasn’t in it, so I got up and left

میں نے سجدے میں گِر کے جو دِل کو سُنا

Maine sajde mei gir ke jo dil ko suna

When I bowed down and listened to my heart

تیرا نام سُنا میں نے إِلَّا الله

Tera naam suna main nay Illalah

I heard Your Name, and there is no one else but Allah

جِیا مورا مانگے درشن تورا

Jiya mora mange darshan tora

My heart is desperate to see you

من کی سُنے ناہی ساجن مورا

Mann ki sune naahi saajan mora

But my beloved doesn’t listen to my heart

رات گئے میں نے دِیپ جالائے

Raat gaye meine deep jalaye

I lit lamps in the dark

بھُور بھئی پر وہ ناہی آئے

Bhur bhai par woh naahi aye

Dawn broke, but he didn’t come

جِیا مورا مانگے درشن تورا

Jiya mora mange darshan tora

My heart is desperate to see you

من کی سُنے ناہی ساجن مورا

Mann ki sune naahi saajan mora

تو لازِم و ملزوم کیا

Toh lazim-o-malzoom kia

There’s no distinguishing the pursuer and the pursued

عشق میں جو پڑ گۓ

Ishq mai jo par gaye

In you get tangled in love

تو حاکِم و محکوم کیا

To hakim-o-mehkoom kia

Then there’s no distinguishing the ruler from the ruled

کُچھ ہم سنیں اور کُچھ تُو سُنائے

Kuch ham sunein or kuch tu sunaye

There’s things you will say and things we will listen to

کوئی بھی پردا رہ نا جائے

Koi bhi parda reh na jaye

So that nothing remains hidden between us

بند آنکھوں سے تیری تصویر میں دیکھا کیا

Band aankhon se teri tasvir mein dekha kiya

With closed eyes what did I imagine in that image of yours

تیرے آنچل کی محک سے روُح کا ساگر دھو دِیا

Tere aanchal ki mehek se rooh ka sagar dho diya

I washed the river of my soul with your scent

بس یہی منظر ہے میرے اندر

Bas yahi manzar hae mere andar

This is the only image that I carry in me

خُد ہی می رقصم عِشق ظاِہر

Khud hi mee raqsam ishq zaahir

I dance to reveal my devotion

ہوتا ہے مُجھ میں اِک ہنگامہ

Hota hae mujh mein ik hangama

There is chaos inside me

روکے نہیں جو رُکا

Roke nahi jo ruka

Which is unstoppable

جِتنا میں ڈھُونڈُوں اتُنا میں ڈوُبوں

Jitna main dhundoon utna main dooboon

The more I search for it, the deeper I sink

ہد سے ہوا بانورا

Had se hua banwra

I crossed all limit of reality
