      Amir Azhar

Amir Azhar began his music career while he was still in school by playing the mandolin for Madam Noor Jehan. By the age of 14, he was performing as a bass guitarist in concert with the legendary Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. A multi-instrumentalist, Amir has recorded with the likes of Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Shazia Manzoor and Fariha Pervez. His techniques on the bass guitar have been recorded on numerous albums. However, very few know that Amir is largely self-taught on the instrument, having picked up on it by observing international musicians and by carefully dissecting the music he listens to.

Formally trained by the Tafu Brothers, Amir is an all-rounder who can play the bass guitar, rabab, banjo, mandolin and acoustic guitar. With all these instruments in hand, Amir brings a colorful range of tones and accents to the Coke Studio house band this year.
