Javed Iqbal’s love affair with the violin began when he was just a toddler. He would sit by the radio, listening to classical music, eagerly waiting for a violin solo. Javed, affectionately known as Uncle Jay within the Coke Studio family, was gifted his first violin at the age of nine and spent a decade mastering the instrument. His career began as a playback musician in the film industry, eventually leading to work with iconic voices such as Farida Khanum, Iqbal Bano, and Nayyara Noor.
A truly passionate musician, Javed states that he knows little about anything other than music, with every aspect of his life revolving around the art form. Uncle Jay has been part of Coke Studio since it’s very first season and returns as a guest musician to lend the silky tones of his violin to the interludes and spaces in this year’s songs.
