    Fariha Pervez

Born into a family of entertainers, Fariha took no time fitting into the culture of the entertainment industry. Growing up with a father who loved to sing, she believes her passion for music began from home, after which she formally began to take lessons in classical music.

Although Fariha is famously known for her career as an actress in ‘Ainak Wala Jinn,’ she quickly realized that her true calling was actually music. Fariha believes in enjoying what she does; she chooses to sing because it makes her feel good and she has always been drawn towards it.

Having released her first album in 1996, her song ‘Bo Kata’ became an instant hit – loved by the public; the song also kick-started her musical career. Ever since, Fariha has focused solely on music and singing. Throughout her career, she has produced spectacular music and worked with some of the finest singers in the industry including Mujahid Hussain, Sajjad Ali, Ahsan Pervaiz, and Sahir Ali Bagga. Versatility being her forte, Fariha has gathered a spectrum of fans; from those interested in bhangra and pop, to classical and Sufi-folk to ghazals and qawwalis, she has enthralled one and all. With her strength being Eastern Classical, under the guidance of Master Feroze Gill of the Gwalior Gharana, Fariha has continues to evolve her musical style.

Fariha has successfully bagged countless awards for her musical prowess; the first being the Best Song Award at the first ever Indus Music Awards in 2004, and the latest being the Special Award for Achievements in Music at the 4th Dynamic Women’s Day Awards in 2015.

Fariha has managed to firmly entrench herself in the music platform producing one successful track after another!

“Ego is one of the biggest problems in the lives of human beings, and I truly believe that music helps us overcome it to some extent; especially Sufi-kalams. Music is not just an art-form, for me it is a spiritual connection.” – Fariha Pervez
