    Rahat Fateh Ali Khan

With over 50 albums to his name, having performed at numerous high-profile concerts across the world, amassing a global following, achieving over one billion views online, Ustaad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan needs no introduction. With over 50 title tracks for television serials and more than 100 songs for Hollywood and Bollywood, Rahat knows how to keep the world’s attention – much like his uncle did. Protégé and chosen heir to Ustaad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s legacy, Rahat represents a 600-year-old treasure trove of musical heritage. Born and brought up in a family of stellar musicians, Rahat formed a spiritual connection with music from a very young age.

Proud recipient of an array of awards including, the IIFA Award for Best Male Playback Singer, Filmfare Award for Best Male Playback Singer, Big Star Most Entertaining Singer, Lux Style Award for Best Singer and countless others, Rahat’s list of achievements does not end here. As a token of appreciation towards all the contributions he has made to the music industry worldwide, he was awarded the Sitaara-e-Imtiaz in 2015 by the government of Pakistan and in 2019 received an honorary degree (Doctor of Music) from Oxford University.

So powerful is his voice that in 2014, his song – Zaroori Tha – was the first original non-film music video in 2016 to reach 100 million views on YouTube. Today that video boasts over 950 million views.

With his diverse musical range, Rahat has become a significant part of the Coke Studio family. In fact, when emerging artist Momina Mustehsan was brought to Coke Studio to sing the giant number Afreen Afreen alongside Rahat, it became the first Pakistani song to garner over 200 million views on YouTube and shot the young singer into the halls of fame! This year, Rahat also made it to Kiran Rai’s 300 Most Influential People in Asia list.

“As long as a spiritual artist respects his craft, peace will prevail. It is wonderful when a singer has a noble cause, and spreads the message of love, peace, and brotherhood as presented by our saints, without greed of money or the world. This is the real purpose of qawwali.” – Rahat Fateh Ali Khan
