      Surriya Khanum

Surriya Khanum brings a definitive sense of soul and grace to her recordings since the summer of 1977 when she started her singing career on Radio Multan. With her first TV appearance in 1980, her breakthrough was a cover of ‘Yaar Dhadi’ sung originally by one of her musical influence, Ustad Juman Khan that established her as a vocal genius.

Formally trained by Ustad Faiz Ahmed for 21 years and Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan for another 8 years, she considers all her seniors to be mentors and a source of learning for her. Having recorded more than 1000 songs in Urdu, Kashmiri, Pushto, Balochi to name a few, she’s inspired musically by Tufail Niazi, Reshma and Iqbal Bano.

Surriya Khanum will grace the Coke Studio platform in her emotional debut on Season 8 and shine through as an invincible force, in a track that also features the incredible Anwar Maqsood.
